From his days as Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana to his current role as the National Basketball League of Canada’s commissioner, David Magley has had quite the journey.
Magley, the former Bradenton Christian School head boys basketball coach who led the Panthers to four state Final Fours in 11 years, spoke with Chad and Andrew on August 13. It would be one week before Magley returned to the Sarasota-Bradenton area for an NBL Canada combine at Impact Academy in Sarasota.
In addition to sharing stories of his playing days and his time raising a family and coaching in Bradenton, Magley talked about NBL Canada, the strides it has made under his leadership and its future.
Magley was an Academic All-American at Kansas before being drafted in the second round of the 1982 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was enshrined in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. His Hall of Fame can be found here.
